With 6 successful seasons passed since the EIS Lovers community was formed, there was always a question to when the next season will begin, how do we draft our players for next season, who are last seasons MVP and Best player.
Since the beginning of the 6th season, we have evolved and instead of using personal policies to decide when the season starts or how we draft our players, we use the online voting system, far better technology than your AF (Academy Fantasy).
Poll results were gathered and results are of the following:
MVP Season VI: Robin (Proflex Family)
Best Player Season VI: Jai (Wednesday)
Season VII Begins on January 2009
The most important of them all is the Drafting Policy. As everyone season passes through, each player has their own idea of how to evenly distribute the teams to create a more competitive atmosphere. Last season, our players selected their own team.
For this season, Lucky draw edged out Form your own team by a single vote. Lucky draw is a good selection because you’re get a chance to form a new team and partnership with someone you might not know well. However, the drawbacks are the player’s position and skills may not be well balanced throughout.
Amidst reports that a couple of players wished we would draft according to positions, like separating all the centers/forwards/guards to different teams, so we can have a 4 team height/position balance, this selection yielded only one vote. So if any of you think a change may be needed for season VIII, please do me a favor by voting at http://eislover.blogspot.com/ at the end of season VII.
The drafting for season VII is of below. Though each team rosters are not well balanced in terms of height or position, in terms of skills, I think each team has their own strong/weak points.
Team A : Walking Tall
C Victor
C Mark
C Jay
PF Pupae
PF A. Chang
SG Karun
PG Abishek
Strong Points:
Judging from all the 4 teams, WALKING TALL is packed well with all the tall players. Obtaining half of the available 6 centers, if this team can get their 5 PF/C players to be able to both crash the boards and rule the insides, no team should be able to stop their progress.
Weak Points:
The overall speed of this team seems to be the lowest. If either is missing, the team’s fast break defense and offense may be weakened. Also, if the ball distribution cannot reach the tall players in their favorite position, the game may be easily gone.
Team B : Snipers
C Michael
PF Pete
SF Jolly
SG Job
SG Mamalek
SG Robin
PG Tae+
Strong Points:
From ESBN scouts, the whole rosters of SNIPERS are good shooters whether it’s a 2 or 3 pointer. History reveals that if any of the 7 players get good looks at the rim, it’s a sure basket. If they can continue to hit open jumpers throughout the game, it’s only a win-win situation.
Weak Points:
Except for Michael, all the other players’ good spots are in the perimeter. If the game is competitive or in a high tempo, if the team cannot cope with the pressure and start missing consecutive jumpers, and if the bad shooting run continues, it might be too late to recover.
Team C : Fast and Furious
SF Wu
SF Vinit
SG Ake
SG Trin
PG Bank
PG Joke
PG Plai
Strong Points:
FAST & FURIOUS occupies almost all the best point guards and fast break players in the league. All the players have abundance of speed and love to run the fast break. If the opponent team tires and gets outrun, it’s no question how the run & gun team can be victorious.
Weak Points:
With no PF or C, this team has an average height of just a high school team. If FAST & FURIOUS can’t defend their zone, no matter how many fast break points they score, it might never be enough.
Team D : The Veterans
C Vikram
C Bob
PF Benz
SF Dev
SF Joey
SF Jai
PG Toe+
Strong Points:
THE VETERANS consists of 4 players playing since season I. With the team filled with many experienced players and with obtaining the best players of season V (Vikram) and season VI (Jai), this season might be a piece of cake.
Weak Points:
It is a doubt if the team can gel together. A strong roster sometimes doesn’t yield the best team. Look at the great Lakers team with Shaq, Malone, Kobie, and Payton…..forgot who the SF was. They were a championship quality team that became the memoirs of years to come.
Don’t get disheartened if your name is not in the list. Due to our growing popularity, those who have not replied to our mails or went missing for many weeks are left out of the draft. The following players may appear as special guest in our season VII:
P’Beer (Special Guests) – Fresh from obtaining one of the top spots at the triathlon games in Phuket, he’s taking his body and national pride to China. He’ll be appearing once in a while if he’s free from practicing.
Le Champ (Special Guests) – He finish his study obligations and though didn’t make it in time for the draft pick, he’s raring to go to fill any void for any team in season VII.
