The opening season VII was off to a big hype as 4 rookies registered for the season and another few old faces back to the court. It's the opening match of the year and hope it'll bring us another great season.
Rookies
Wolfgang Heinze (Snipers) - Big recruit as EIS Lovers went shopping for players in the Euro market. His height and skills are of a big terror to the court.
Vinit (Fast & Furious) - After building his mentality deep in the woods of India, he finally made it to the League after appearing in many pre-season games.
Toe (Fast & Furious) - After rumors spread of a great league season-opener, he tried his luck and hit the court. The only tall guy in his team.
Joey (Veterans) - With the veterans old of age & experience, he brings in a vast youth to the team.
Old Faces
Le Champ & Nek (Walking Tall)
Bank (Fast & Furious)
Here are the match results
Match 1 : Walking Tall (18) 38 : 24 (7) Snipers
Walking Tall: Karun 12 pts., Victor 10pts.
Snipers: Wolfgang 9 pts., Job 6 pts.
Snipers came out as ESBN favourites as they drafted the Euro Champion player Wolfgang Heinze to their rosters. However, an early injury to Michael (the team's star player) had disrupted the tempo with Snipers hardly able to find the target both in and outside the box. Walking Tall took advantage as Karun ran the fastbreaks and Victor dominating low in the paint. Before Snipers could find their rhythm, the game was just too far off to catch on.
Match 2 : Fast & Furious (20) 43 : 44 (20) Veterans
Fast & Furious: Bank 17 pts., Joke 12 pts.
Veterans: Vikram 18 pts., Dev 9 pts.
It was a strange sight as Fast & Furious began a game-plan never seen before. With supreme height disadvantage, WU suggested a full-court man to man tactic. It did probably do the trick as Fast & Furious led early 6 - 2 with a couple of steals and fast breaks. As the experienced Veterans got into the game and took the offensive inside they held a big 20 - 12 lead. With Vikram withdrawing to the bench with his mind only on the Siberian Huskies, Joke ran the fast breaks with a few more baskets to pull Fast & Furious back on level terms at halftime.
Second Half, the Veterans were as usual as Vikram & Dev bombarded the Fast & Furious territory deep down. Holding a 42-34 lead, Bank led the offensive with a couple of lay-ups and a last minute 3 pointer. However, the time expired with a point to yearn about.
