EIS Lovers Season VII Matchday 5

For once in probably a year, our Gorilla Boby came back to court to help officiate half of a match. With his additional presence, the court seems to be filled with tall players, where short ones like me might feel an inch or two shorter. Tonight came two matches of two moods: a game that ended by three minutes and the other gone done the whole wire.
Here are the match results

Match 1 : Walking Tall (17) 41 : 40 (20) Fast & Furious
Walking Tall: Mark 18 pts., Dennis 9 pts.
Fast & Furious: Joke 14 pts., Trin 10 pts.
For once Jackrin was back to his original drafted team after he had been sent on loan to all the teams in the league. In the other hand, Fast & Furious had once again loaned James accompanied by 3 of Wu's friend.

The game started in slow fashion as both teams try to find the net. Defense was full-fletched as the scoreline 10-10 came up at mid of first half. But in all tight games, just one miss shot by a team can be a run by the other as Walking Tall had a 7-2 run to lead 17-12 with 3 minutes remaining. However, Fast & Furious never gave up and turned the tide with an 8-0 run to finish half-time at 20-17 with Trin's buzzer beater.

The second half was another replica of the first half as the scoreline was yet 30-30 at mid of second half. A couple of turnovers by Joke led Walking Tall to a big 39-32 lead with Mark getting huge in the second half with Dennis the supplier. But as usual, holding on to a lead against a team that never gives up was not easy as Fast & Furious rallied to a 41-38 scoreline. With a missed shot by Walking Tall, Trin fed Joke with 10 seconds remaining who opt for a 2 pointer to pull the game closer rather than going for a 3-point draw. With a 1-point advatage, Dennis missed both free throws. But as 2 seconds remaining, James unlucky missed the winner making Walking Tall worthy winners of the day.

Match 2 : Snipers (18) 46 : 90 (48) Veterans
Snipers: Wu 12 pts., Job 11 pts.
Veterans: Vikram 27 pts., Tum&Dev 24 pts.
Finally Vikram returned, and it was a contest between the Veteran star, Rising Star Dev, and Rookie Tum. Snipers probably have been missing Pete & Michael as their presence should have kept Veterans better at bay.

The game ended at three minutes as Veterans ran a big 12-2 lead. The gap never closen as Vikram, Dev, and Tum were hitting numerous shots to aim for the days highest scorer. With no body presence, Snipers were both outscored, outrebounded, and outfought. Spectators were just wondering if Veterans can hit the half-century mark by halftime which they missed only by a shot.

Second half was a big delight as Wolfgang appeared after a 2 game absence. His contribution was enormous as Snipers started a run of their own with Wolfgang, Job, & Wu starting to get hot in the second half. Anyhow, Veterans was still scoring as usual. Though the scoreline might be EIS record of the highest win by any team, it was a great scene that Snipers had really gone competitive in the second half.

EIS Lovers Season VII Matchday 4

This be the last day for PETE of the Snipers who'll be going to Japan for about 1.5 - 2 months.
Next time we're be seeing him probably be on Season 8.
Here are the match results

Match 1 : Walking Tall (23) 37 : 34 (16) Snipers
Walking Tall: Karun 16 pts., Mark 10pts.
Snipers: Robin 20 pts., Mamalek 7 pts.
Walking Tall look clear favourites as Snipers have gone with missing their centers for the 2nd straight game. An early ankle sprain injury on NEK of Walking Tall has disaligned the team's formation. With Walking Tall clear favourites, each time they led by 5 or more, Snipers were banging consecutive shots to pull the game even. With Walking Tall leading by 7 at halftime, Snipers pushed hard and continuously tied the game at 25-25 midway through the second half with numerous baskets from ROBIN. Though Snipers came back leading 34-33 with a minute remaining, they couldn't hold on to the lead with Walking Tall punishing them with 2 big baskets.

Match 2 : Fast & Furious (21) 37 : 74 (38) Veterans
Fast & Furious: Trin 12 pts., Joke 11 pts.
Veterans: Dev 28 pts., Tum 17 pts.
It was another day the Veterans ran the show without last season's top-scorer Vikram. It was not a big deal as Dev pulled up big hitting 28 points with 6 baskets behind the arc to lead the Veterans to one of the league's most convincing wins. Veterans hit a record high in field goal percentage as they converted absolutely over 75% of all their shots. An amazing feat hardly to be achieved.

EIS Lovers Season VII Matchday 3

It was an important day as Walking Tall and Veterans battle it out to be the half-season leaders, while Snipers and Fast&Furious are trying to avoid the last position. However, this was the first day of Season VII where we had to wish our luck 20 players appeared. The first two matchdays were filled with 26 players total but at 19:20, total players were just 18. But as we never doubt our friends love of the game, when finally 22 players came with Jackrin hitting court the latest at 20:30. We applaud everyone's spirit and we hope this'll be another of our successful seasons. Here are the match results:

Match 1 : Walking Tall (19) 42 : 71 (33) Veterans
Walking Tall: Victor 13 pts., Karun & Mark 12pts.
Veterans: Dev 21 pts., Vikram & Jai 18 pts.
After only 2 players hit the starting line-up for Veterans on matchday 2, all the players responded with 7 players present at the start. In the other hand, all the guards for Walking Tall have gone missing with only Karun present. The game might possibly a mighty contest between the Titans, but the match was really decided upon the guard positions. With a shortage of guards, Walking Tall had to let their towers run the point guard to which under pressure, spilled too many turnovers leading to Veterans easy fast break points. With Dev displaying master theft skills and Jai running the chicken, the story was just over early in the first half.

Match 2 : Snipers (24) 45 : 50 (27) Fast & Furious
Snipers: Michael 16 pts., Robin 14 pts.
Fast&Furious: Joe 14 pts., Trin 12 pts.
With Fast & Furious having only 3 people present at court, loan signings Joe & James were drafted to both fill the void and maximize the whole people's playing time. The couple were crucial in the victory as for once, Fast & Furious had a complete position in their starting line-up with both of them grabbing numerous rebounds and scoring half of Fast&Furious total score. Though Snipers were outrebounded for most of the game, they made up with their accute shooting skills. With the game tied at 43-43, it was Trin, making his 2th career appearance, who hit two free throws and a crucial 3 pointer in between a Michael 16-footer that gave Fast & Furious a commanding 48-45 lead en route to their firt victory.

EIS Lovers Season VII Matchday 2

Match 1 : Walking Tall (21) 49 : 33 (16) Fast & Furious
Walking Tall: Victor 13 pts., Dennis 11pts.
Fast & Furious: Bank 23 pts., Ake 6 pts.
It was another entertaining game as the Fast meets the Tall. To many surprises Fast & Furious steamed to a 14-2 lead early in the first half. However, with team running of gas....Walking Tall came back with a hat-trick of baskets by Nek and held on to a five point advantage. With the second half, Walking Tall were getting baskets from all their players while Fast & Furious struggled on poor shooting and lack of strength to condemn them to their worst loss of the season.

Match 2 : Snipers (14) 27 : 31 (17) Veterans
Snipers: Robin 8 pts., Pete & Wolfgang & Michael 4 pts. each
Veterans: Dev 19 pts., Joe 6 pts.
Jai was again in a team that deserted ship....or was it his luck as only 2 of 7 made it to the starting line-up. However, it didn't matter as it happened every season as Jai fed the ball to super-Dev who almost singled handedly ran the show with this season's high 5 3-pointers. Snipers were always close behind with all players being a threat hitting at least a basket. Yet, Joe registering late for Veteran did the damage with his 3 vital baskets close to the final minutes.

EIS Lovers Season VII Matchday 1

The opening season VII was off to a big hype as 4 rookies registered for the season and another few old faces back to the court. It's the opening match of the year and hope it'll bring us another great season.

Rookies
Wolfgang Heinze (Snipers) - Big recruit as EIS Lovers went shopping for players in the Euro market. His height and skills are of a big terror to the court.
Vinit (Fast & Furious) - After building his mentality deep in the woods of India, he finally made it to the League after appearing in many pre-season games.
Toe (Fast & Furious) - After rumors spread of a great league season-opener, he tried his luck and hit the court. The only tall guy in his team.
Joey (Veterans) - With the veterans old of age & experience, he brings in a vast youth to the team.
Old Faces
Le Champ & Nek (Walking Tall)
Bank (Fast & Furious)

Here are the match results

Match 1 : Walking Tall (18) 38 : 24 (7) Snipers
Walking Tall: Karun 12 pts., Victor 10pts.
Snipers: Wolfgang 9 pts., Job 6 pts.
Snipers came out as ESBN favourites as they drafted the Euro Champion player Wolfgang Heinze to their rosters. However, an early injury to Michael (the team's star player) had disrupted the tempo with Snipers hardly able to find the target both in and outside the box. Walking Tall took advantage as Karun ran the fastbreaks and Victor dominating low in the paint. Before Snipers could find their rhythm, the game was just too far off to catch on.

Match 2 : Fast & Furious (20) 43 : 44 (20) Veterans
Fast & Furious: Bank 17 pts., Joke 12 pts.
Veterans: Vikram 18 pts., Dev 9 pts.
It was a strange sight as Fast & Furious began a game-plan never seen before. With supreme height disadvantage, WU suggested a full-court man to man tactic. It did probably do the trick as Fast & Furious led early 6 - 2 with a couple of steals and fast breaks. As the experienced Veterans got into the game and took the offensive inside they held a big 20 - 12 lead. With Vikram withdrawing to the bench with his mind only on the Siberian Huskies, Joke ran the fast breaks with a few more baskets to pull Fast & Furious back on level terms at halftime.

Second Half, the Veterans were as usual as Vikram & Dev bombarded the Fast & Furious territory deep down. Holding a 42-34 lead, Bank led the offensive with a couple of lay-ups and a last minute 3 pointer. However, the time expired with a point to yearn about.
